Overcoming Privacy and Security Hurdles and Growing Cloud Adoption in Europe

Europe is feeling safer in the cloud with major changes

For those in Europe, privacy concerns and little education around how cloud providers manage and protect data have kept many businesses from moving to the cloud. That, plus a lack of in-region cloud infrastructure to meet compliance needs. However, we’re starting to overcome those hurdles, and more businesses in Europe are shifting to the cloud. We can only expect this trend to continue.

Microsoft cloud data centers doubled in the past year

To date, Microsoft has invested nearly €3 billion to build new data centers in Europe. This new in-region cloud infrastructure enables European companies to take full advantage of the cloud. Construction of two new data centers in France is underway, which will bring the total to eight data centers in the region upon completion.

With these new investments, more customers can meet European data compliance, sovereignty, and security needs while having the ability to innovate in the cloud.

Businesses in Europe can expect cloud to continue to grow in Europe. In October 2016 while speaking in Dublin, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated “We continue to invest heavily in cloud infrastructure to meet the growing demand from European customers and partners.”

As part of the initiative, Microsoft has announced that they will offer Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365 from multiple data centers in France. To learn more, you can find a list of Azure data centers here, Office 365 and Dynamics 365 data centers here, and a complete list of products by region here.

BitTitan is Privacy Shield Certified

The EU-US Privacy Shield Framework was put in place by the US Department of Commerce and the European Commission to offer a platform that would protect data that is transferred from the United States to Europe or vice versa under EU law. This means all US companies that are part of the Privacy Shield Framework must comply with the Department of Commerce and follow the Framework’s rules and requirements.

Our Privacy Shield Certified status is one more way to assure our European partners that BitTitan takes data privacy seriously. Your customers’ data is safe when working with BitTitan to migrate and manage in the cloud.
