Teams Private Chat Migrations are Back
Teams Private Chat migrations were working, then they stopped working, and now they’re working again. Here’s what you need to know:
In response to a security issue, Microsoft made the decision to restrict Teams data access through EWS. This caused Teams Private Chat history to no longer be available for people performing mailbox migrations. MigrationWiz users were temporarily impacted, but now the BitTitan product team has developed a solution that allows you to migrate Teams Private Chat using Graph API. With this method, MigrationWiz will rehydrate the last 30 days of Teams Private Chats. Post-migration, users will be able to see full 1:1 chats, group chats, chat titles, long texts, rich content and styling, chat replies and threads, as well as emojis, GIFs, and stickers.
In order to roll this update out as quickly as possible, these migrations will temporarily work as standalone projects called Teams Private Chat Collaboration. And they won’t require you to consume a license. However, in a future release, Teams Private Chat migrations will again be bundled with a MigrationWiz User Migration Bundle (UMB) license.
